In Genesis chapter 2, two different words are used in the Hebrew that translates as work (you can read all about this in the articles below). One of these words is the Hebrew word Avodah, which has a number of different ways of being translated into modern languages, the two most common of which are worship and service.

This interchangeable word that translates as worship and service and work describes the activity that Adam (and humanity) carries out for God within His creation. When we work we serve, and when we serve we worship.
