Focused
Jesus teaches in Mark 4 of four responses people have to the gospel. When describing the third response, it sounds hopeful—they hear the word!—but it results in no fruit. Why?
The worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.
Mark 4:19
With all the activities that come with a new job, especially the first in your field, there are also many distractions and stresses. Competitive pursuits and promotions ever-present at work… Money and the opportunities that arise when there’s more of it… Anxiety that can become crippling…
It’s easy to lose focus. That’s why the second part of Transition aims at helping young graduates keep their focus on the Lord in their new surroundings. We study ambition, and what Christian ambition looks like and what it’s for. We ask whose money it really is and what God’s intentions are for financial blessing or financial hardship. We examine belief versus trust, and how deep trust in the Lord and prayer can help battle against anxiety.
With the workplace being many adults’ main mission fields, we want to make sure our graduates are prepared to be fruitful for Jesus, rather than having their faith be choked by their environment and everything that comes with it!
